Today was a tough day. We had to go to Will's town of Jiaozuo to apply for his passport and to get his papers at the notary office. It was about a 2 hour drive each way. We had a very difficult decision to make that we did not have with Lily Kate. We did not have the option of visiting her orphanage, with Will we did. The difficulty lied with the attachment he and the foster parents had with each other. We knew that they worked at the orphanage and that it would be rough on everyone saying goodbye. We decided yesterday that we would not go...however today when we got to the city the director from the orphanage thought we were coming and said how everyone could not wait to see him and say goodbye. Well, needless to say we said a little prayer and went. The foster parents ran to the car when we got there and showered him with candy and a big bag of grapes. He jumped into their arms and smiled a huge smile. Immediately Will saw his best friend and showed him his new shoes. The foster parents carried him through the orphanage and showed us around. The pain in our hearts grew as we went from room to room. Let me start by saying that the orphanage was very nice and clean. The children were definitely well cared for. It was just tough to see so many babies and toddlers in cribs, some sleeping and some awake, just lying there. There were so many disabilities represented in the rooms we walked through. They showed us the crib that was Will's for quite some time and the little guy in it just kept looking at me and smiling, just begging me to pick him up. I finally had to walk away. I think Abby and I both wanted to bring him home. There was another little one in a bouncy seat with a severe cleft lip that made me think of my Lily Kate. These poor children's only hope is to one day be adopted. Our agency rep did a good job of keeping the visit short and making the goodbye quick. Still, it was a very rough day. Hopefully, we can move on from here and help Will feel the love and comfort he needs as he adjusts to our family.
What an amazing experience! I'm sure it was sad. I can't imagine seeing all those babies there. It sounds like God gave you the right boy if he likes adventures! You guys are always up for an adventure. So glad to hear Will is officially a Campbell!! Love and miss you guys, Deborah
So neat that you got to visit the orphanage.. They do not allow visitors at the one Morgan came from. I think it would of been neat to just be able to see where she spent her first 14 months of her life. Seeing the other babies would of tore me up too, so sad... Will is looking so happy! Love that smile. Enjoy the last part of your adventure!
I cried when I read your blog. God love those little ones! My only hope is they too find a wonderful new home. I wish I was younger, I would take one;(. Well I cannot wait to see my new nephew. The whole family is whole and happy. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
What an amazing story you will have to tell Will when he gets older. What a hard day! I cannot even imagine. We can't wait to meet him! He is adorable!
I am so glad you'll went. I know God has called you to be Will's mother and forever family. This will give you all even more passion to share this need with others. I know you all will continue to be a prayer warriors for all those little angels. As someone stated above, God loves them all and He will use you each to guide others in their experience. Sharing this with others may even prompt other families. I would not be surprised if your children follow in your footsteps. Thank you again for sharing. Love to you all and safe travels home. Praying.
