Major US government glitches delaying Chinese adoptions--UGH!!!

Apparently, two and a half days ago there was a computer glitch in the US immigration system and all visas temporarily stopped. Well, all families one week ahead of us in the adoption process are supposed to fly out in the next few hours ( it is currently 4:45 am here) but cannot get their babies visas to leave the country due to the glitch. Just within our agency (CCAI), there are 15 families. They were waiting until the last possible minute to cancel flights and I heard through one lady that has travel insurance (which we did not even purchase) was not going to cover this. The hope is that through the U.S. business day, the glitch is being fixed and the system catches up enough to get these families processed. Many families are almost out of cash and the cost of rebooking a flight is outrageous. If not, we arrive there tomorrow and things will really begin to back up because our paperwork to return home cannot even begin to be processed. This glitch is being felt around the world--you just don't realize what it means until it affects you directly. We can't stress about it--we will just wait and see. Yesterday was a very low key. We went for a walk, bought Will more new shoes, went to the park, and went to a restaurant where the featured items were intestines and turtles--we stuck with rice and noodles. Today we are going to a museum and packing for our departure tomorrow. Will did well yesterday. He even let me carry him home from the restaurant. He and Lily Kate are struggling with being the top dog. Lily Kate loves to be in control of all things at all times and it is very hard for her when he insists on being in control as well. He does a lot of yelling at her in Chinese (usually because she takes something he has because technically she thinks it is hers). It is so funny to see because when he yells he points his little finger to get his point across. We all look forward to getting home and into a routine--a hotel room is just too small!!!

  1. Oh I hope the glitch is fixed before you even get there. How frustrating. By the end of the trip, the only thing you think about is just getting home, so hopefully it will all go smoothly. Loving the pictures! Is Will cleft baby also?
